To all of our veterans, THANK YOU.
I started American Wren Creations with veterans and their families in mind. We owe them so much. As the granddaughter of two Korean war veterans and a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary (my Grandma signed me up when I was born!), I’m dedicated to contributing whatever I can. On September 11th, #100milesforhope flew onto my radar and I immediately joined the challenge.
What is 100 Miles for Hope? “100 Miles for Hope is a virtual 100-mile walk/run/ride challenge starting Aug. 3 and going through Veterans Day in 2020. It’s a way to invigorate donations for the Veterans & Children Foundation, as well as encourage American Legion Family members to be active in this time of social distancing. The foundation serves two primary functions. It provides critical grants for military and veteran parents in unexpected financial crises, and support for service officers in their tireless efforts to obtain care, benefits and opportunities for disabled veterans and families. The American Legion’s 3,000 accredited service officers provide free assistance for any veteran in need.”
“Since its creation in 1925, The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation has delivered over $30 million in financial assistance for disabled veterans, military families and young people who lost parents in service to our nation. Income from the foundation investments is used to fund Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation programs and Temporary Financial Assistance, which provides funds to minor children of active duty or American Legion members.” Learn more about the American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation and donate here.
From the American Legion Veterans Day 2020 Speech:
“We can be secure at home because we have brave warriors protecting us in the air, at sea, on land and beyond our atmosphere.
The American Legion is dedicated to remembering the legacy of all veterans because what these men and women have done for us, matters to America. It matters to the people overseas who were liberated from tyranny due to the sacrifices of our military members.
From defeating Communism, Fascism and Imperialism, to liberating slaves, keeping the peace during the Cold War and battling terrorism today, veterans have accomplished remarkable things throughout our nation’s history.
GOD BLESS AMERICA, AND GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:12-13
